This is another rose from my garden, only later. The petals had mostly fallen, and the bright peach had faded to a soft, luminous white, though traces of warmth still glowed in the center. With its structure fully revealed, the flower felt bare but somehow even more alive. There was a kind of honesty in its openness, something quietly arresting in its vulnerability.

I painted it against a deep plum ground, loose and expressive, to mirror the tension between softness and energy. The brushwork moves more freely here, giving the composition breath and urgency. Even as it faded, this flower held so much presence. I wanted to honor that, to show that beauty doesn’t disappear as things fall apart. Sometimes it becomes more vivid.
