This painting came slowly, and not without resistance. I began with the red gerbera daisies and rose for their celebratory color, the way the greens cut through the bouquet with such freshness and contrast. But as the work unfolded, it became less about capturing flowers and more about finding my way through uncertainty.

There are rough edges here, unresolved spaces, places where the forms dissolve into suggestion. Those are the parts I love most. They hold the movement of the painting, and perhaps the truth of the season in which it was made: a time of transition, grief, single parenting, and rebuilding after so much had shifted.

For months, I wasn’t sure I would find my way through it. Then one day, I sat down to work, almost by force, and something opened. The painting began to move again. It reminded me that creativity, like life, often comes in tides: retreating, returning, asking us to trust the rhythm before we can see where it leads.

The result feels vibrant and ethereal, both joyful and hard-won. A small celebration of persistence, color, and the beauty that can emerge when we keep showing up.
