This painting continues my exploration of the rose as a recurring subject, returning to the same pink variety that opened the collection. This bloom is less unfolded as the original, still tightly wound around itself, compact and inward, as if holding its breath. The top-down viewpoint remains, but the approach to paint has shifted, allowing the brushwork to become more spontaneous and responsive.

Edges soften and dissolve into the surrounding space, with the rose interacting directly with the light blue ground rather than sitting apart from it. The background is airy, almost sky-like, lending the painting a sense of openness and light. The petals are rendered with particular delicacy. Their thin, luminous layers feel both sweet and fragile, almost confectionary in color, yet as light as tissue paper. This work reflects a growing trust in suggestion, touch, and the quiet places where form begins to fade.
