Just outside my studio window, peach roses bloom in a soft tangle of petals: fragrant, full, and often visited by hummingbirds. I see them every day, but this one caught me differently. I began the painting, then set it aside for months. When I finally returned to it, something had shifted. What started as a familiar bloom emerged wild and radiant, as if lit from within.

The surface holds layered brushwork and subtle shifts of warm tone, built slowly to preserve the sense of movement and glow. I wasn’t expecting the fire in this one, but I let it lead. It became a painting about transformation and about what beauty looks like when you stop trying to tame it.
